Red for passion and yellow for warmth. These are attributes that lend colour to the province of Seville, where fiesta and tradition come together to experience their most deeply felt pastimes. The bull’s bravery and the horse’s majesty – breeds born out of nobility and purity, out of culture and devotion, become the very expression of art and showmanship, acquiring their true meaning in the fervour of the ring and the heat of the sand.
There is no better way to begin your route than with a visit to the marshland town of La Puebla del Río and the spectacular “El Rocío” Ranch. The latter belongs to the Peralta brothers, and here you can enjoy the fabulous horse and bull shows, with flamenco song and dance entertainment backed up by guitar and the gaita rociera flute, which is native to these lands.
At midday you can take a short break in your journey to have a well-earned rest, the perfect excuse to try any of the area’s rice specialities: rice with rabbit, arroz marinero (a seafood rice dish), rice with free-range chicken, etc. For more information, look up Gastronomy in the Itineraries of different kinds, An idea for you, or Where to eat sections.
Just 22 km away you arrive at the next destination, the “Isla Mínima” estate in the municipal area of Isla Mayor. Here you can spend an entertaining afternoon watching horse shows, taking part in a capea (fun mini bullfight) in their small Maestranza ring, or touring their fighting bull livestock farm.
