All year round the there are festivals all over the province and in Seville, every two years, the Biennial

The art form is so popular in the Province, that there is a full calendar of flamenco festivals and competitions. Almost all the major towns in the three flamenco areas of Seville have their own festival. Get to know the flamenco routes from festival to festival:

Flamenco of lime and olive trees

National Flamenco Singing Competition in Lora del Río; the Flamenco Night in Ecija; in Estepa the Polvorón Flamenco among others; in La Puebla de Cazalla, cradle of great artists, the Cante Jondo Meeting; in Morón the Gazpacho Andaluz; in El Coronil the Las Aguzaderas Flamenco Night is held in the castle of the same name; in Utrera there are many activities and shows, but the Potaje Gitano of Utrera is considered the oldest of the summer festivals. For one week a year, Arahal celebrates the Pastora Pavón Niña de los Peines, Al Gurugú, Memorial; Marchena, the Guitar Festival and the National Pepe Marchena Memorial Competition of Columbines and Flamenco Singing. Finally, in November, Carmona holds the City of Carmona National Flamenco Singing Competition.

The salt and the sound

Los Palacios y Villafranca has been holding the Mistela Festival, and Las Cabezas de San Juan, the La Yerbabuena Flamenco Festival, since the 1960s. Lebrija holds the Caracolá Lebrijana Flamenco Festival, another classic of the province.

The cradle of the great masters

La Algaba, the Algabeña Flamenco Night; Mairena del Alcor, the Antonio Mairena Cante Jondo Festival and Competition; Alcalá de Guadaíra, the Joaquín el de la Paula Festival, the Soleá de Alcalá Flamenco Singing Competition and the Manolito el de María Flamenco Festival; Dos Hermanas, the Juan Talega Flamenco Festival; Coria del Río, the Noche Flamenca en el Cerro; and Mairena del Aljarafe, the Great Flamenco Fashion Festival.

The capital deserves a special mention. Every two years, in September, Seville holds what is undoubtedly the most important flamenco festival. The Bienal de Flamenco is the premiere of the great shows that will tour all the world’s major theatres. Over the course of its more than 20 seasons, this event has become the reference point for everything that happens in the world of flamenco. The Teatro Lope de Vega, Teatro de la Maestranza, Teatro Central, Real Alcázar and Espacio Santa Clara, among others, are stages every night for the most important manifestations of flamenco art. Fans from all over the world attend.

Seville also holds what has become the world's most important flamenco fashion event, SIMOF.
