Seville, beautiful and diverse

Utrera’s train station was officially opened in 1864. Today, it is one of the most recognisable stations in Andalusia due to its classic building reminiscent of long-gone days. It is located just one kilometre to the west of the town centre. The two-storey, passenger building in classical style has a rectangular plan and is positioned parallel to the tracks.

The current Town Hall was originally a Jesuit school, to which the El Salvador Church also belonged. The convent was completed in 1621.

During the reign of Carlos III, the Jesuits were dispossessed of their property in this city and the building became a lodge.

The building with a robust architecture was completed in 1893. It is located in the Plaza de España or del Salón, as it is commonly known. The brick façade has windows on its two floors and three centred balconies with stonework balustrades.

The Chapel of San Marcos de Casariche is located in the Sierra del Puntal del Sur, about 5 kilometres from the town of Casariche, next to the A-92 road in a beautiful natural setting.

The Hernandez family takes to heart the Hydraulic Mosaic tradition. In 1927, José Hernández Gamero settled in Lora del Río, founding the first mosaic factory in the town. The family clan would come to be known in the town as the “loseteros”.

The workshop consists of auxiliary craftworkers led by a monitor who coordinates all the tasks involved in the process of making the mosaic. With the learning of this technique, it is possible to obtain mosaics that are very similar to those made by the Romans.

Ecija’s Municipal Historical Museum has allowed the city to recovery the Benamejí Palace -a magnificent example of 18th-century Ecijan Baroque, listed as a Historical-Artistic Monument. The extraordinary historical and archaeological heritage, both of the city and its municipal district can now be exhibited, preserved and remembered as one of the richest in Andalusia.
