Cascadas del Hueznar

Seville enchants

This walk through the surroundings of Almadén de la Plata passes through areas of grassland, olive groves, dehesa and riverbanks, running alongside the Las Calzadillas stream.

The walk follows a section of the Vía Verde de la Sierra (Greenway of the Sierra), an old railway line between the provinces of Cadiz and Seville that has now been converted into an eco-tourist trail.

This route starts at the recreational area of Las Doblas, just off the A-472 road. From this point, after crossing a gate, the route takes a pressed earth path with short cemented sections at the fords.

This road starts at the bridge know as the Dragon Bridge. At their feet, and in the bank opposite to the castle there are two possible places to park the car, one to the right and another to the left, from where two possible routes start. These routes pass by 7 of the 9 flour mills that stand in the river banks and are preserved to this day.

This route has two main attractions: its ornithological interest and the pleasure of taking a walk across open fields.

This route starts at Avenida de la Fuente, on the outskirts of the municipality of Estepa, although, barely 180 metres on, Avenida de la Fuente becomes the SE-9212 road.

Almadén de la Plata

The origins of this town date back to Roman times. It was a small village, whose main source of wealth came from the marble quarries, called Pagus Marmorarius, which translated from Latin means "village of the marbles".
