Alanís’ Medieval Festival of the Sevillian Sierra Morena

733
1

This event takes place in the first weekend of September, bringing to life the town’s monuments, in particular the 14th-century Castle. Neighbours, business community and volunteers participate in the characterisation of streets and organisation of the event.

This event has become one of the most eagerly awaited festivals by the thirty thousand visitors who come to this mountain town during the weekend. Street theatre, “cabezudos”, fire shows, parades and an artisan market transform the village into a replica of a medieval village.

This event first took place in 2003 to promote the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the town and region. Alanis was a pacesetter in themed festivals in the region and elsewhere. It was declared an Andalusian Event of Tourist Interest in November 2019.
