Its name comes from the Order of the Mercedarios Descalzos, who built it in the 17th century.

It has a single nave with a Latin cross floor plan. The most outstanding features of the façade are the image of the Virgen de la Merced and the beautiful belfry. Inside the church you can see the carvings of the Virgin de la Merced (17th century) and the Baby Jesus (18th century) on the Main Altarpiece, and the 17th-century polychrome wood carvings of the Virgen Dolorosa and the Sagrada Familia.

This church is the starting point for the procession of the Hermandad del Calvario, which has some beautiful, recently made images.
