Santiponce Itálica

An immense legacy waiting to be discovered

Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario

The church is of modern construction. One of the most outstanding features is the main altarpiece, a modern work, which houses the image of the Virgin after whom the church is named, also modern, plus a canvas of San Antonio de Padua and a crucifix in the attic, both from the 18th century.

In the baptismal chapel, besides two modern, dressed images of La Dolorosa, there is an interesting 16th century crucifix. In this church, the images of the brotherhoods of El Santo Cristo y la Virgen de los Dolores, de la Esperanza, y del Santo Entierro are venerated, and they are carried in procession on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Saturday, respectively.
