The Nuestra Señora del Carmen Church was founded in the 18th century on the site of 16th-century Shrine to Cristo de la Sangre. A few Gothic-Mudejar elements from the Shrine still can be seen.

The Marquises of Estepa used the temple’s crypt as their pantheon for many centuries.

This Church has one of the most impressive Andalusian Baroque portals by Andrés de Zabala, which combines white and black panels and columns.

Highlights inside include the mid-17th-century statue of Our Lady of Carmen on the high altar. It was donated by the Marchioness of Estepa, Leonor María Centurión y Mendoza. Interestingly, the image of the Virgin Mary is not holding the Child Jesus in her arms.

There are also various items of great artistic and historical value, such as the late 16th-century painting of the Christ of the Blood or votive offerings to Our Lady of Carmen.
