The Almadén de la Plata Astronomical Observatory is Europe’s largest centre for the dissemination and research of astronomy. Anyone can visit the centre and view the Cosmos in a dark and beautiful place in the Seville’s Sierra Morena. It has five astronomical observatories that accommodate over 200 people. There also offer many other activities, including naked-eye or telescope gazing of galaxies, nebulae, double stars, planets, comets, etc., conferences, computer room, exhibitions, library and astronomical events (meteor showers, eclipses and others). The Almadén de la Plata Astronomical Observatory is a project by Miguel Gilarte Fernández, its director, and the Spanish Astronomical Association for all citizens who wish to gaze at the Universe.
