Located in the Sierra del Viento, the Cerro de La Capitana is the highest peak in the Sierra Norte Natural Park at 960 metres. Its viewpoint, ideal for observing migratory birds and large birds of prey, offers spectacular views.
On the ascent to the hill is the old astronomical observatory of La Capitana, now in a state of neglect but highly recommended for its architectural beauty. A few metres away we find this fabulous viewpoint overlooking the southern part of the Extremadura plateau and the whole of the Seville’s Sierra Morena. It is one of the clearest and darkest places for observing the night sky, with a large parking area and with no visual impediments.
