It was born in 1993 with the aim of maintaining and recovering the traditional trades of our region: ceramics, cabinetry and lutherie, as well as promoting the employability of future professionals.

The Artisan training centre of Gelves is part of the training offer of the Regional Government of Andalusia and is integrated in the Andalusian Employment Service as one of the entities that make up the network of training schools for employment.

The visitor will be able to see a magnificent exhibition of the most emblematic handcrafted pieces. Works of ceramics, handcrafted furniture and lutherie, characterised by the construction of guitars.

Description of the tour

First of all, the visitor will be able to see a magnificent exhibition of the most emblematic artisanal pieces, such as ceramics, handcrafted furniture and lutherie, characterised by the construction of guitars.

Afterwards, we will go on to the workshops through a guided tour of handmade pottery, ceramic restoration, ceramic decoration or painting, moulds, ceramic moulds and modelling, enamel laboratory, etc. Besides, you will visit the carpentry, cabinetry and ornamental carving workshops, the workshop for the construction of guitars, lutes and Spanish bandurrias and the workshop for the maintenance and repair of stringed musical instruments.

In both cases, there will be live demonstrations of the different trades, for example, demonstrations of pottery making on the potter's wheel, decoration on ceramic pieces, furniture making, and instrument repair and maintenance tests.
