Seville, beautiful and diverse

Like the Sierra de Becerrero, this mountainous area next to the town of Gilena belongs to the Sub-Baetic Zone, one of the outlying areas of the Baetic Mountains, and is made up of marl and limestone. The highest point in the sierra is the Acebuchosa peak, at 663 m.

The Sierra de Montellano, also known as the Sierra de San Pablo, on whose slopes the town is located, is a limestone formation that reaches an altitude of up to 600 m, and which preserves natural vegetation of great interest for a town whose surrounding area is occupied largely by arable crops and olive groves.

The Peñón de Algámitas is found in the Sierra del Tablón, one of the mountain formations that make up the Sierra Sur. It is a great isolated mass of calcareous rock, with an altitude of 1121 m, making it the second highest peak in the province of Seville (the highest is the Terril, located in the same mountain range).

In Badolatosa, specifically at kilometre 13 of the road that connects this town with the district of Corcoya, there is a dirt track leading to a small watchtower. From there you can observe the beauty of the meander formed by the River Genil as it runs around the mountain range and the small islet formed by the whimsical flow of the river.

At 110 metres above sea level, Santa Brígida Hill, in the Jardín del Atalaya neighbourhood, is the highest point in the area. It was once the site of the Shrine to Saint Bridget.

A path winds its way up to a vantage point offering splendid views of Seville.

When walking around Osuna’s Collegiate Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, it comes as a surprise to find a viewpoint on one of its sides.

The Buena Vista Viewpoint is in a prime location with splendid views of the entire city of Osuna and the Sevillian countryside. The stone quarries from which the stone was extracted to build palaces and houses in the historic centre can be seen from here.
