Seville enchants

The earliest documentary references date back to 1556. Already then, Espartinas’ Asunción Parish Church had close ties with the San Bartolomé Parish Church, located at Paternilla de los Judíos, a small town that existed between Espartinas and Villanueva del Ariscal.

The San Martín Church was built in the Mudéjar style (15th century). Additions were made from the 18th century onwards in newer architectural styles owing to damages caused by the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. The original church was a nave and two aisles, divided by rows of cruciform pillars and pointed arches and semi-circular arches with alfiz.

This shrine was built during the Almohad period. Its construction is dated to 1147-1269. The building was renovated in the 16th century and again in the 19th century.

Heir to the founder of the goldsmith's shop, Ramón León, he began working as an apprentice at the age of 10. At the beginning of the 1980s he became independent and set up his workshop in Triana, starting his work as a solo silversmith.

The Hospital del Pozo Santo is located in the square of the same name, in Seville. It was founded in 1667, on the initiative of the nuns Marta de Jesús Carrillo and Beatriz Jerónima de la Concepción, of the Franciscan Tertiary order, both of whom are buried on the right-hand side wall of the church.

The Church of the Cristo de los Gitanos, the real name of which is the Sanctuary of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Salud and María Santísima de las Angustias Coronada, dates back to the beginning of the 15th century. It was part of the Franciscan convent of the Valle, which consists of the church, outbuildings, cloisters, gardens and orchard.

The old parish church of Santa María Magdalena must have been built on top of an old mosque. In the time of King Peter I, as a result of the strong earthquake of 1355, it was rebuilt in the Gothic-Mudejar style similar to other churches in the town.
