Convento de la Madre de Dios
Madre de Dios Convent

Built in the 16th century, the Madre de Dios convent is now home to the Hermanas de la Doctrina Cristiana. It has a beautiful cloister with Mudejar and Renaissance features. It is worth mentioning that it suffered a major fire in 1722 and was looted during the civil war, being restored during the 1990s.

The ensemble is a 17th century baroque building commissioned by Alvaro de Castilla in 1614 as a convent and hospital, to which the church is attached.

Chapel of Cristo del Humilladero

The chapel of the Humilladero del Cristo is located on the Royal Road between Guadalcanal and Llerena.

Chapel of San Benito

This chapel is a Mudejar construction, possibly from the first half of the 15th century. In 1494 it was visited by the Order of Santiago, which wrote a report on its activities, which states that there was a Confraternity of both sexes with the title of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación y San Benito.

San Benito Church

The building dates from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. It is currently privately owned and is being restored to be used as an apartment building. Of Gothic-Mudejar origin, it has a single nave, divided into four sections by pointed transverse arches, the apse being made up of two sections, a rectangular one roofed with a coffered vault and a semicircular one with a ribbed vault.

This is a monument of great interest although unfortunately only the outer walls remain, including a doorway that, according to tradition, belonged to the now defunct monastery of San Francisco and which has a simple Renaissance design attributed to Hernán Ruiz II himself, who was involved in the design of the parish church tower.

La Casa del Gurugú
The House of El Gurugú

The house was built in 1901 and has unquestionable architectural value. It is located in the property known as "El Gurugú", with pedestrian access from Calle Virgen del Robledo, and is set in a prime position high above the town. It is currently the Monastery of the Idente missionaries.
