Grape Harvest Fair and Festival

The origin of the Harvest Festival dates back to 1954, when it was established with the aim of publicising the quality of the wines obtained from the vineyards of Villanueva del Ariscal.

During the festival, various events are held prior to one of the most important moments, the Treading of the Grapes and the production of the first must of the year. The activities include the opening speech, when the Queen of the Festival is crowned and her Court of Honour is presented, as well as the presentation of the Children's Queen and her Ladies, and the pinning of the insignia on the Children's Town Crier and Foreman.Another of the most significant moments is the pilgrimage on 29 August, when San Ginés, the patron saint of winegrowing, is taken to the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Loreto, where the first fruit of the vine is offered to the Patron Saint of the Aljarafe.
