The Alamedilla Fountain, also known as the Eight Spouts Fountain, is located in the Resolana Square, next to the Cristo de los Afligidos Park in Utrera. This old octagonal fountain with a roof shaped like a gazebo has been renovated. The roof, decorated with Sevillian tiles, is supported on eight semi-circular arches. A tap under each arch drains into the basin that surrounds the whole structure. The fountain supplied water to the inhabitants of the village and the cattle. Its waters come from a spring located 1 km away. In ancient times, the complex consisted of three elements that were interconnected: the fountain, the trough and the washing houses. Built in the 14th century, it has been renovated several times. Nowadays, it has been substantially modified. The washing house has disappeared, and the trough is half-buried. It was the town’s water point.
