Las Cabezas de San Juan-Capilla de Nuestro Padre Jesús Cautivo

The Chapel of Our Father Jesus Captive, or simply the Chapel of the Captive, is located on the Nuestro Padre Jesús Cautivo Avenue (formerly, Avenida Ancha) in Las Cabezas de San Juan.

The foundation stone was laid in 1993 on land donated by the Town Hall, and it was consecrated in 2002 by Carlos Cardinal Amigo Vallejo. The chapel was moved from San Roque Parish Church to its current venue on 8 December 2002. It is now the seat of the Confraternity of El Cautivo of Las Cabezas, the owners of the chapel.

The chapel is characterised by a freestanding bell tower with three bell gables. It has a huge doorway to allow the floats with the titular images of the Confraternity to pass through during Holy Week. The chapel has the appearance of a shrine with very high ceilings, creating a very large, rectangular nave. The main altar is to the left of the entrance, next to the sacristy.

Opposite the altar –to the right of the main entrance- is another door leading to the Confraternity’s offices. The titular images of the Confraternity -Our Father Jesus Captive by Juan Bernabé Britto, Our Lady of the Remedies and Saint John the Evangelist- are distributed throughout the chapel.
