San Miguel de la Breña Monastery

The Monastery is located on a privately-owned estate, a few kilometres from the town on the road leading to Malcocinado. This is all that remains of the former Basilio Monastery. The chapel, which is used as a warehouse of the current farmhouse, consists of a single nave divided into two sections, one with a barrel vault and the other with a dome.

The original settlement may likely have been a sanctuary that was remodelled into a farm and an oil mill after the confiscation of church properties. All that remains of the temple is the church and a holy well. This site holds archaeological, ethnological and architectural remains from different periods. The image of the Virgin of the Saleta in the neoclassical altarpiece is worshipped by the locals.
