On 3 February 1945 (eight days before his death), Amalio himself set up the Foundation, registered under number A34-SE19, with its headquarters at number 7, Plaza de Doña Elvira in Seville, in the heart of the Santa Cruz district, which had been the painter's studio.

The purpose of the Foundation is the promotion, dissemination and cultivation of Amalio's pictorial and literary legacy, as well as the study of the art of painting and other arts.

The museum houses most of Amalio's work, as well as the collection he donated and is the heritage of the "Los 365 Gestos de la Giralda" foundation. Chronologically, the first Giralda was painted in 1962 and the last one, just the year before his death. These gestures consist of pictorial interpretations that aim to capture the time, day and season in which they were made. These are paintings, drawings, engravings, morphisms, touch paintings and sculptures.
