El Pilarillo Fountain

This fountain is located on the slopes of the Castillo de Hierro, 1 km from the town centre on the A-363 road in the direction of Olvera.

Arab Fortress of Alhonoz

The fortress is located between the municipalities of Ecija and Herrera. Its dominant position with respect to the surrounding territory led to the existence of a major urban settlement in its surroundings during the Moorish period that survived until the reconquest.

Ruins of the Medieval Castle

In the past, a medieval castle stood at the confluence of the River Siete Arroyos and the former riverbed of the River Guadalquivir (known as Cañada de la Molineta). All that remains today are two walls, one with a horseshoe arch.

The Cornisa de los Alcores crosses the municipalities of Carmona, El Viso del Alcor, Mairena del Alcor and Alcalá de Guadaíra in a northeast-southwest direction. This sloped plateau stands out against the flat countryside of the Guadalquivir Depression in which it is located. It is a relatively low plateau of up to 242 metres with moderately steep slopes.

Lora del Río Castle or Setefilla Castle

Located next to the Churre River, near its confluence with the River Guadalquivir, this was the original site of Lora, according to the local archaeologist José Remesal.

Medieval Castle

Lebrija Castle stands on the highest point of the town from which it takes its name. It has dominated the town since it was built in the medieval period.

The Ducal Square was the Castle’s parade ground. For centuries, it was the town’s main square, near the palace, and home to the Town Hall. It used as a venue for festivals, “corral de comedias” (open-air comedy theatre) and, above all, bullfights. Nowadays, scenes from the Passion of Christ take place here on Good Friday, in what is locally known as the “Mandato”.
