The Encina de los Perros is an area of stunning natural and scenic beauty on Los Villares estate, in the village of El Álamo, a hamlet El Madroño.

Andalusia’s Regional Government declared this holm oak a Natural Monument due to its exceptional features, location and relevance for the local inhabitants. The tree is over 16 metres high and more than 1.40 metres in diameter, with a 28.5-metre crown that casts a 600-m2 shade. It is listed in Andalusia´s Inventory of Unique Trees and Groves.

The holm oak stands in a meadow with few trees, which are primarily eucalyptus, as well as scattered bushes, mainly rockrose.
