A caballo por la marisma

Seville, beautiful and diverse

This Priory Church is the epitome of Carmona’s religious architecture and the town’s largest building.
The earlier Almohad mosque was demolished in 1424 to build the Christian temple, the first phase of which was completed in 1518. The ablutions courtyard remains.

The origin of the San Sebastián Church is unclear, although it was already mentioned in 1498.

The temple, which has a basilica plan, was built in the 16th century according to the design of the Genoese architect Vicente Boyo.

It consists of one nave and two aisles, as well as side chapels. Worthy of note are the pulpit, the high altar and the portals.

This parish church was built in 1964 over the remains of an 18th-century church. The new La Purísima Concepción Parish Church has a modern, avant-garde style.

The single-nave temple with a polygonal presbytery is one of the most significant monuments in the town.

The Confraternity of the Trinity built the chapel in the early 18th century (1719-1723) to worship their titular images.

This is a chapel dedicated to the veneration of the Virgen del Pilar in the town of Valencina de la Concepción. It was inaugurated on 12 October 1940, coinciding with her feast day.

It was initially part of the Convent of the Third Order of St Francis, founded in honour of Saint Mary of Jesus in the 16th century.

The church is thought to have been built in the 14th century under King Pedro I, the Cruel. It was built over a former mosque, the minaret of which remains. It was further enhanced with new elements in the 15th, 16th and 18th centuries.
