Cascadas del Hueznar

Seville enchants

This festival was declared an Andalusian Event of Tourist Interest. This initiative was launched by José Meneses and Francisco Moreno Galván in 1967. The festival is held in different squares and locations in the town, bringing together people from all over Spain and other countries, in particular Germany, the United States and France.

The Festival de Cante Jondo is one of the oldest festivals in the province of Seville.

This flamenco event is held in the month of July and is organised by the Peña Cultural Flamenca "El Niño de la Jara" with the collaboration of the Town Hall of Martín de la Jara, among other entities.

The Festival began as a charity event held during the celebrations in honour of the patron saint, Saint Bartholomew. The parish priest, Enrique López Guerrero, sought to raise funds for the parish to cover the needs of the parish church. He proposed the organisation of a flamenco festival to Antonio Mairena, who has just won the III Llave de Oro del Cante Festival.
