Nuestra Señora del Carmen Conventual Church

The Carmelite Order occupied the convent, donated by Juan Téllez Girón, in 1606. The construction likely began in the early 16th century, as the unfinished chancel has Gothic and Renaissance elements. The naves and portal were renovated in the 18th century. The church has three naves covered by a barrel vault and supported by pillars. Current convent of the Carmelite Fathers

One of the most remarkable altarpieces of Sevillian Renaissance (1588-1590) is situated in the presbytery. It has three levels, three panels and four intercolumniations. The architectural work and sculptures are attributed to Juan de Oviedo the Elder and Diego de Velasco. Exceptionally notable is the relief with the theological virtues “Noli me tangere”. The small chapel above the altar is a later addition.

The remarkable choir, which likely dates from the late 17th century, was brought here from Ecija's Carmelite convent. It consists of 22 stalls with pictorial representations of Carmelite saints on the backrest identified with a placard.
Entrance to the convent is free.
