Seville enchants

The Torrijos Procession has been traditionally celebrated since 1923 on the second Sunday of October in Valencina de la Concepción. The Discovery of the Christ of Torrijos on 29 September 1600 was a great event for Valencina's one hundred or so residents and for the towns in the region.

This festival is known as “Las Cruces de Mayo” or “Las Cruces “. Some songs add, “Cruz de Mayo, la fiesta de las mujeres...” (May Cross, women’s festival) to highlight the important role women play in this festival. Although the main symbol is a cross, the church does not have a presence in this secular festival.

Declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in 2008.
