Chapel of La Safa

The Chapel of La Safa was built in 1983. It is a single-nave building with a half-barrel vault held up by ribbed arches supported by pilasters. The altarpiece, the arms of lateral lamps, the stained-glass windows and the half-height tiling of the old Seville factory of Ramos Rejano are currently preserved. The rest of the walls have been renovated with stucco and the vault and floor with marble.

The characteristic features of this chapel are the bell tower, the rose window on the façade and the choir, which has very good acoustics, all of which have remained unaltered since its construction. The Central Coat of Arms represents the current ownership of the Chapel: Escuelas Profesionales de la Sagrada Familia. The mosaics on the façade show the image of San Juan Bosco and María Auxiliadora.

With the financial help of the people of Montellano in the first instance and with the development of two Employment Workshops for masonry, electricity and painting, granted by the Department of Employment of the Junta de Andalucía, the rehabilitation of the Chapel was completed in 2006.
Since 2000 it has been the headquarters of the Hermandad de Nuestro Padre Jesús en su Entrada Triunfal en Jerusalén, Dulce Nombre de María y Sagrada Familia de Nazaret. Since that time, services have been held in the Chapel.

The Cardinal of Seville, Carlos Amigo Vallejo, blessed the Chapel of La Safa on 15 April 2007.
