Palatial House of the Rueda family

One of the most interesting houses in the city. Built in the 18th century in masonry and stonework, this stately home is located on one of the historical areas of the old town.  It sits on a privileged site opposite the Santa María Church, framed by three streets, one on the front and the other two on the sides.

This building has the typical structure of baroque palatial houses. The most significant element is the main entrance. This retable-entrance has two levels. The bottom one has Tuscan columns, and the upper one has Ionic columns and a curved pediment with the family coat of arms.

There is a courtyard within with galleries and marble columns. The rooms are organised around the central courtyard. The upper floor or winter house has whitewashed walls and coffered ceilings. It is a fascinating building to visit not only for its furniture but also the paintings, engravings and lamps that decorate the house.

Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, Monument category Official State Gazette-B.O.E. No. 139 of 11/6/1983 Royal Decree 1612/1983 of 13/4/1983
