Cascadas del Hueznar

Seville enchants

From the immortal ruins of Italica to the recovered natural landscapes of the Guadiamar, this is a trail full of ancient ruins and natural wonders.

This route uses the tracing of the La Campiña Nature Trail, which  runs along part of the old Cordoba-Marchena railway line and crosses the towns of Fuentes de Andalucía, La Luisiana and Marchena, all three in the province of Seville.

This periurban park has a dense networks of path that circle or cross it. The proposed route starts at the entrance of the park and circles it counterclockwise. The first section consists on a narrow compacted earth pact that runs along the perimeter of this protected natural area, which is the home to several native plant species, mostly scrub and ornamental plants.

The trail runs along a path in the urban area of Alanís, which surrounds the Cerro del Cura (Priest's Hill), following a circular route. From the village, look for the beginning of the Guadalcanal road and follow it for 300 metres until you see the path on your right.

The trail begins at the Cathedral of Seville, following an urban route through the capital. You cross the Guadalquivir by the old railway bridge to continue straight on to Camas or turn right along the riverbank to Santiponce. In the first case, you will go through the centre of Camas.

This route starts at the first bus stop in Gerena, next to the Guardia Civil compound,. From this point, we take the  A-477  road until it crosses the Water Route. The route takes the path that leads to a quarry and, just before entering the quarry, turns right and zigzags up a rocky slope dotted by wild olive trees, Mediterranean dwarf palms, and thyme bushes.

Alanís

On entering the Natural Park, you will see the silhouette of Alanís standing out against a gentle slope. Its medieval castle at the top and, next to it, the chapel of San Juan are the most distinctive landmarks of the town.
