Chapel of San Diego

The chapel is a building of Mudejar origin. Built in the 15th century, it is Mudejar in style and has a single nave. Its interior is a beautiful example of popular Mudejar architecture with a characteristic wooden roof with an image of San Diego, built by Castillo Lastrucci in the 20th century. The end façade is from the first quarter of the 16th century. The church has undergone several transformations throughout its history, the last one in 1966.

Following the tradition in San Nicolás del Puerto, the image of San Diego, patron saint of the Seville’s Sierra Morena, is transferred from the Mudejar chapel where he presides over the main altar to the parish church of San Sebastián the weekend before the services celebrated on the second Sunday of May with the Pilgrimage of San Diego, one of the most ancient festivals in the region, and also on 13 November to coincide with his saint's day. After the services, the following weekend he is transferred back to his chapel to mark the end of the festivities.

Opening times

Second Sunday of May (Pilgrimage). On the 13th of each month mass is celebrated in the chapel.
