Sevilla Street

The former Sevilla Street, with a gentle slope, runs parallel to the monumental and artistic San Pedro Street. Its perspective is unique. Overshadowed by the massive Collegiate Church, this street appears to begin at the fig orchard that surrounds this town’s main temple. At the other end of the street is the tower of the Espíritu Santo Church, behind which the sun sets every afternoon.

This street is a museum. The visitor should start at the Concepción Church, which overlooks the main square with its ashlar façade, typical in this town. A little further down is the reddish façade of Saint Catherine, with the image of the saint tied to the wheel of martyrdom. To the right and left, stone and ashlar façades from ancestral homes line the street, with their coat-of-arms emblazoned on the walls that hide their magnificent courtyards. The artistic baroque façade of the old courthouse with outstanding Solomonic columns comes as a surprise.

Seville Street is a museum in its own right. The visitor can not only enjoy a pleasant walk but also learn about the architecture and heritage of this beautiful city.
